MageNews-October-2020

Welcome to the 21st edition of MageNews. 🎃

Being the new editor of Atwix’s monthly news digest — MageNews — is a great honor and responsibility. My hope is to build on the practical value my predecessor delivered. Our goal remains the same — to monitor and surface key drivers and highlights taking place in our incredible Magento ecosystem. We look to provide MageNews in an easy to read format. Ultimately, we want to further community knowledge and engagement by helping inform developers, merchants, and partners across the Magento world.

Let’s start!

MageNews September

Welcome to 20th edition of MageNews. 🎉

It’s been quite a while since we decided to create this digest. MageNews has gone from a simple idea to a full project with a commitment to deliver the most important and exciting Magento news each month.

Our goal is to make this wrap-up useful for every tier in Magento community, both technical and non-technical people, our merchants, partners and a lots of friends from Magento community. A lot of you have already got used to it, hopefully, love it and are happy to be notified about a brand new post every month.

For me, it’s been a tradition now to end my month with reviewing the latest news, defining information and briefly describing what happened. Of course, the best part is the joy from being able to help others to learn more. 🙌

With my recent decision to take a sabbatical and step away from my daily responsibilities we have decided that MageNews must go on! Alex Lunkov, our Business Analyst, will be preparing MageNews for you as of October.

As for me, I’m going to start a new journey and switch focus to other things. No matter what –  Magento will always have a special place in my heart.

Onward and upward, everyone. 🚀

Time-To-Value-With-Magento-Commerce

In today’s world, having an online eCommerce presence is needed to not only attract new customers but to support current customers. This was the reality for large scale B2C and B2B merchants, but is now true for most local and smaller sellers as well. Recent events have accelerated and normalized this business mandate. This rapid transition is not about scale or introducing new sizzle — it’s about developing an online presence that strengthens a business’s ability to survive in 2020 and beyond.

Overview of Magento Commerce and Open Source 2.3.5 release

General availability for Magento 2.3.5 was on April 28. This release introduced new security and performance improvements. As any patch release, it’s recommended to update to the latest version of Magento application at your earliest convenience to apply not only functional enhancements but what is most important all the recent security fixes. To help you plan and budget software updates, let’s first clarify types of Magento code releases.

Black friday is a good problem if a merchant has their ecommerce site tested and tuned

One compelling reason to shop online is there are no lines. Another reason to shop online is the ability to search virtual aisles – however one wants and whenever one wants. When you combine those two shopping benefits, be it B2C or B2B, and then force multiply by anticipated sales transactions, merchants can become consumed with thoughts how best to ready themselves.

E-commerce and COVID-19

Empty city streets, padlocks set firmly over metal bars. Covered windows at shops and cafes that were until very recently buzzing with patrons just a couple of weeks ago. Now they’re all deserted. No, this is not a zombie apocalypse movie scene…it is a dark moment in time but it is also our new reality…at least for the next couple of weeks if not months.

Client-oriented strategies

In the field of e-commerce, one of the most vital factors for the business is how the user interacts with the website. If the king is content, then the queen is usability. The website should be designed for the user’s needs in the first place. That’s why every business owner should make sure, that the tendency of the client-oriented approach is followed. The client wants to have a possibility to feel admiration, to think slow and do fast. If you want to generate income in your business – figure out how to achieve unique advantages over the competitors.
