Get involved in Distributed Magento Contribution Day

2017 has truly been the year of Community Engineering for Magento. For many years we’ve been hearing voices from the Magento community on how great would it be if we were allowed to work on fixing bugs and improving Magento core code… And now we’re living this dream. Moreover, this dream already delivers: 24% of the code shipped by Magento in 2017 came from the community. And all this came from 511 unique contributors. Impressive, isn’t it? And what’s helped the success?

Atwix at Meet Magento

When I started working with Magento, it quickly became obvious that this is not just another e-commerce platform but also a remarkable and a vibrant community. Blogs, podcasts, webinars – they all give you a feeling that you are a part of something bigger. But I sensed a real influence of Magento community only after attending Meet Magento Poland 2017.

Imagine 2017 wrap-up

We’ve all been taught that the preparation for winter starts early in summer. For those in eCommerce it seems that we are constantly under pressure of “Winter is coming!”. The digital world is changing rapidly and so are the needs of digital consumers. It is not big news anymore that digital shoppers have almost conquered the offline world, and for those brands, who haven’t yet jumped on the wave of providing omni-channel experience, it’s better to start catching up.

Once I’ve decided to celebrate my birthdays every year in different places. Last one I had in the other country. This year I had it at Meet Magento Poland in beautiful Poznan. It was a long trip, which took about a day to get to Poznan from Ukraine. But finally, I reached the destination. I arrived very late at night and decided to take a walk to the place where we stayed. The city was quiet and amazing at night.
